Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) Program

Request Frequent Use: TAP CARD

The LIFE program offers three types of transportation assistance:

Basic

FREQUENT USE: we will give you 20 FREE rides on any participating transit agencies, which can be reloaded upon completion.

All applicants will receive a FREE TAP Card if they don't have one—a saving of $2.00.

Intermediate

MODERATE USE: we will give you 4 FREE rides at any participating transit agency. You can request another 4 FREE rides upon completion. We also have $11 Taxi voucher for rides to close destinations or supermarkets.

Advanced

EMERGENCY USE: we will give you up to $100 in a taxi ride for medical appointments, court-ordered appearances, job search interviews, shelter, food bank, or appointments at any government agency (i.e., DMV, Social Security, DPSS, WIC, etc.). We can extend up to 8 vouchers in a month.

You have to provide ONE proof of income, such as:

  1. Proof of government assistance accepted:

    • EBT verification letter

    • Medi-Cal card

    • Social Security Award  

    • Social Security Disability Award 

    • General relief cash aid eligibility letter 

    • Unemployment letter 

    • SNAP eligibility letter 

    • TANF eligibility letter 

    • CalFresh eligibility letter 

    • Free or reduced lunch letter 

  2. OR Check stub or Tax return. Those who provide a check stub or tax return as proof of income must fall within the limits below:

    Household Size and Annual Income

    1 person - $41,700 or less

    2 people - $47,650 or less

    3 people - $53,600 or less

    4 people - $59,550 or less

    5 people - $64,350 or less

    6 people - $69,100 or less

  3. OR Self-Certification. If you don’t have proof of income, you can complete the self-certification
