Housing Assistance at My New House

At My New House, our housing program is a one-stop support system for individuals and families seeking long-term housing that fits their needs. While we do not offer emergency housing, we provide personalized guidance based on current housing opportunities available throughout California. Listings change monthly, and while we are not affiliated with any of the properties, we help bridge the gap between our clients and these opportunities.

Instead of navigating complex applications or waiting in long lines, our team simplifies the process. We guide you through income limits, eligibility requirements, and other details to help you find safe, stable housing.

Important Note About Income, Credit, Criminal Background and Immigration Status:
To qualify for any long-term housing program in California, applicants must have a source of income to pay rent—even if it’s a small amount. This is a requirement across all programs, and we have never seen a housing option that accepts individuals with zero income. Because of this, we are unfortunately unable to assist clients who do not have any income at this time. There are properties that do not exclude people with no immigration status in this country. We match families with properties that do not have this restriction. For those with low credit or no credit, we guide through the process on how to get approved using alternative options. Most properties ask questions about criminal background and our case managers will ask questions that will help these properties with their selection.

How to Get Started:

1.     Schedule an Appointment: Visit https://www.mynewhousela.org/contact/ to book your appointment. Please note that slots fill up quickly—sometimes over 60 appointments are booked in a single weekend. If you don’t see any available, that means all appointments are currently full. We recommend checking the site frequently for openings.

2.     Become a Client: Fill out our intake form and provide a copy of your ID and medical insurance plan card, and everyone applying for housing. Many health plans and government programs include housing-related benefits, and we’ll help you access any resources available to you.

3.     Personalized Assistance: One of our team members will sit with you to learn about your income, preferences, and specific needs.

4.     Custom Matching: We compare your information with our internal housing database to find potential matches that suit your situation.

5.     Application Support: Once a match is identified, we help complete the housing application and include a professional cover letter that serves as a reference for the property.

Ongoing Support & Follow-Up:

As a client of My New House, you’ll receive a curated list of housing opportunities in California every month. If you find a property that interests you, you’re welcome to visit our office—we can provide the application or complete it for you on-site.

While some individuals may choose to search for housing on their own, we’re here to support those who need guidance navigating the process and securing long-term housing with clarity and confidence.

Please note that we are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and appointment availability depends on when our volunteers are able to serve. For this reason, we’re unable to respond to individual inquiries about appointments. If no appointments are showing on our website, it simply means that none are currently available. We encourage you to check back regularly.

We reserve the right to refuse services to those who do not come in peace and align to our requests.
