🌿 Free Mediation Services — Resolving Conflicts Peacefully & Confidentially
🟩 In Partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer & Business Affairs (DCBA)
At My New House, we believe that every conflict deserves the opportunity for understanding, communication, and peaceful resolution. Through our partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer & Business Affairs (DCBA), we are proud to provide the community with free mediation services designed to help individuals and families resolve disputes without the stress, cost, or formality of going to court.
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process that brings together the parties involved in a disagreement with the assistance of a trained, neutral mediator. The mediator does not take sides or make decisions; instead, they guide respectful dialogue, helping each person express their concerns, listen to the other side, and work collaboratively toward a mutually acceptable agreement. This approach empowers community members to take an active role in solving their own problems, preserving relationships, and restoring peace within neighborhoods, homes, and workplaces.
A Safe, Respectful Way to Resolve Conflict
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential service offered by My New House to help individuals resolve disputes without going to court. Our approach focuses on open communication, mutual understanding, and practical solutions. A trained mediator supports the conversation but remains neutral and does not take sides or make decisions.
No Cost to Participate
Mediation services are provided free of charge for eligible participants.
Voluntary and Collaborative
Mediation begins when one party submits a request. All parties involved must agree to participate before a session is scheduled. Participation is completely voluntary, and everyone is encouraged to engage respectfully and in good faith.
Neutral and Confidential Support
Our mediators help participants:
Identify and clarify key concerns
Improve communication and understanding
Explore solutions that work for everyone involved
All mediation sessions are private and confidential. Information shared during mediation cannot be used later in court, except in situations involving criminal activity or threats of harm.
When Mediation Is Not Available
My New House is unable to provide mediation services for cases involving:
Threats of violence or criminal behavior
Active restraining or protective orders
Family law matters (such as custody or divorce)
Issues outside limited civil jurisdiction
Agreements
Any agreements reached during mediation may be verbal or written. Agreements are only legally binding if all parties choose to make them enforceable.
Flexible Mediation Options
To meet the needs of our community, mediation sessions may be held:
Online (video or secure communication)
In person
By phone
Sessions can take place with all parties together or separately, depending on comfort and safety needs. Scheduling occurs only after all participants confirm their availability and preferred format.
Important Information
Mediators do not provide legal advice or legal representation. Participants may choose to consult an attorney or bring a support person if desired.

Why This Matters for You & Our Community
Prevent escalation — early mediation helps avoid costly legal battles, strained relationships, and emotional toll.
Empower people — parties are directly involved in crafting solutions that suit them, rather than having a judge assign an outcome.
Support housing stability & harmony — resolving disputes around tenancy, repairs, or neighbor issues helps individuals, complexes, and neighborhoods remain stable and livable.
Promote trust & communication — mediation builds skills in listening, compromise, and respectful dialogue.
We believe this program will make a meaningful difference in countless lives across Los Angeles.
